The Detroit Jesuit Community is made up of Jesuits who live and serve throughout the metropolitan area. Rooted in prayer, community life, and Ignatian spirituality, they support one another in mission while working across a variety of ministries — from education and spiritual direction to parish life and social outreach.
Each Jesuit is engaged in a unique apostolic assignment, but they are united in their commitment to bring others closer to Christ. Together, they accompany youth and families, uplift the marginalized, and contribute to the spiritual and social vitality of Detroit.
Members of the Detroit Jesuit Community reside at Lansing-Reilly Hall on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy, at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy, and at Manresa Jesuit Retreat House. Their presence reflects a long-standing tradition of Jesuit involvement in Detroit’s renewal and growth, guided by the Gospel and the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus.
